What Is A Fit To Fly Certificate?
A Fit To Fly Certificate is a medical certificate issued when you test negative for Covid-19. Our tests are carried out by our trained medical staff and certified by Dr John T Doherty, Consultant Anethetist at Altnegelvin Hospital in Derry~Londonderry, Northern Ireland.
Which Test Do I Need?
Two types of test are generally used for Fit To Fly certification, PCR and Lateral Flow (Antigen) tests. The type of test you need will depend on your destination countries requirements for travellers from your home country based on the traffic light system.
Consult the governments website for information on quarantine and testing requirements depending if your destination is on the green, amber or red list for travel.

Our PCR test checks for the presence of COVID-19 in your system. The PCR test is the most appropriate during the earliest stages of exposure to the virus (1-11 days). The PCR test can detect COVID-19 even if someone is asymptomatic.
The antigen test works by detecting viral surface proteins via nasal swab testing method. It is a rapid test meaning results are received within minutes.
How Long Before My Flight Should I Get Tested?
Time windows for testing before departure differ depending on your destination country and these can be anything from 24 hours before to 72 hours before. Refer to government advice for guidance on how far in advance of your flight you need a test.

How Will I Get My Certificate
If you test negative your certificate will be emailed along with your results. Your destination country may require you to carry a print out and it is a good idea to carry several copies.
